Mindset is about growing your future, about your plan, and ultimately about your reaction and interaction to all of it.
So let’s start out a little more simply with the definition of Mindset according to Dictionary.com
1. an attitude, disposition, or mood.
2. an intention, habit or inclination.
Wait Mindset can be a habit? It’s not just a mood? If your mindset is that your are going to fail, then you are going too. If your habit is to think that you are going to fail, you will. YES Mindset is your habit. How do you break a habit? The answer is you don’t break a habit, you replace it.
They say that it takes 21 days to establish a new habit, I don’t agree, I think it’s more like 30 days. So really think about it: WHERE do you want to be in 21 days? What do you want to change about yourself? Every goal you are working towards requires a Mindset and actions to achieve them. What are your actions going to be?
Mindset is about your future, about your plan, and ultimately about your reaction and interaction to all of it.
People always say it’s about your mindset. Change your mindset and you will succeed, but it’s not always that easy. I mean I can tell you suck it up buttercup and stop worrying or failing at something, but that isn’t going to help anyone at all especially if your mindset is skewed. Also having a mantra of “I am awesome”, “I am great”, “I will do it”, is only as good as your Mindset. Do what? Be awesome at what? Be great at what? Yes, your Mindset is deeper than what you are physically doing. But Mindset work, without a place to focus on, it is difficult at best and more likely less effective, than if you have goals to work on or towards.
So back to the above questions:
WHERE do you want to be in 30 days? What do you want to change about yourself? What are your actions going to be?
- Make a Plan
- Write out all the tasks or steps for that plan
- Get yourself an accountability partner
- Commit to a certain amount of time every day to work on these items (or just one)
- Journal about the process so that you can keep accountable to yourself.
Truly committing to yourself and others that you are going to change a Mindset, and then diving in and making yourself develop that new habit, will grow not only your peace of mind, but your strength and your self awareness that will establish you to all around you as someone who is serious and ready to take on the world.
